WINE AND STRONG DRINK MAKE TUMULTS ENCREASE,
CHOCOLATE, TEA AND COFFEE, ARE LIQUORS OF PEACE,
NO QUARRELS OR OATHS AMONG THOSE THAT DRINK THEM,
ANDREW MARVELL ENGLISH POET (1621-78)
Well I hope you all enjoyed the first week of ‘Baking’ on Monday. With the weather dull, wet and cold we do tend to want to eat carbs and make cakes. So, if you haven’t tried making any before then this is the programme to get you going.
This is its second series and one of the baker’s, Lorraine Pascale, changed her career from top model to a top baker. She followed her diploma with a foundation degree in International Culinary Arts in Pastry working in some of the busiest kitchens in the world.
She now runs her own bakery, Ella’s Bakehouse, in London;s Covent Garden and has just released her first book ‘Baking Made Easy’, which accompanies the TV series.
The book has both sweet and savoury recipes from pork pies and chorizo and thyme fougasse to Battenberg cake and white chocolate and amaretti cheesecake, so there’s something for everyone.
