THIS CHRISTMAS IS SET TO BE THE BIGGEST ‘HOME-MADE’ FESTIVE SEASON IN DECADES…

With so much emphasis on home-made foodies and home décor, it doesn’t surprise me in the least that they think this festive season is set to be the great big ‘home-made’ Chrsitmas.

Lots of us are having a go at home-made chutney’s, jams, biscuits and making knitted tea cosies and home-sewn garments.

I must admit I have been very influenced by all things vintage this year (hence the blog) which has a lot of home-made products. I have already made my own Christmas cards and plan to try some fudge, chocolate and mint creams.

With an abundance of beautiful box’s and jars available to choose from in vintage, retro, modern, whatever your style you will find it somewhere.

And, with jam thermometer sales up by 62% at John Lewis, I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if I receive one from a friend.

I actually love it, especially making something this special for friends and families.

OVERHEARD IN A TEA ROOM…

‘I do wish this teapot would pour like a dream!
Try one of these scones, I can pass you the cream’.

‘Well, thank you, but no, for I must watch my weight,
Just look at those slices of damson and date!’

;Just look at that table: I say, what a sight –
It looks like those women are starting a fight!’

‘I’ll wait for the cuckoo clock – mustn’t be late:
It’s supper at seven and soiree at eight.’

‘No manners these days – not a ‘thank you’ or ‘please’,
Those women are worse than the zoo’s chimpanzees’.

‘I do love Darjeeling and jasmine at four –
Tea settles the stomach; I’ll pour us some more’,

‘I really can’t take it – I wish I could stay:
The noise from that table will drive me a …!’
