Upfront, let me say I just received this little book today, so cannot review recipe results from experience. After enjoying the Great British Bake Off so much, I was all ready to learn to make some of those gorgeous things here at my house. I looked at Mary Berry’s cookbooks, and Paul Hollywood’s and, bought one of the Bake Off volumes, and Chetna’s book with the so interesting spices. However, I just wasn’t happy with the range of recipes. When opened the look-inside feature and saw what was covered in this book, I thought that this could be my one comprehensive Brit Baking book. I even read about Mary Cadogan, to check things out. Looked good. So I took a chance. It is true, I still like the range of recipes. I also like that there is a full color photo for each recipe, even though the photo quality is somewhat dull. What did surprise me is just how very tiny this volume actually is. My fault, for not scrolling down to read about that. It is indeed 6x6x .5 inches. Every recipe covers 2 pages, one for text and one for a photo. The font size is readable, but I certainly wouldn’t want it any smaller. So you can see that there is no room for more than a one-liner comment per recipe, or for any special technical notes, and the directions are very economical. We shall see if my baking skills can interpret successfully. I am going on their assurance that each recipe has been triple tested–but not quite sure just what that process actually means. I will probably be consulting other baking books to compare, and for more in-depth directions. But, all-in-all, this volume may be little, but it certainly covers a lot of ground, and many recipes sound really appealing. I remain hopeful. If it lives up to my hopes, it will be a good thing I didn’t notice how small it is, because I would have for sure passed it by.

Good book. Crisp to the point recipes and it’s small size comes handy while working on your baking station. Pictures are good quality.
