One of the UK’s biggest flower shows starts tomorrow at Tatton Park tomorrow until Sunday.
Saturday is a special day for families and to coincide with the launch of the big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s THE BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg, The Big Friendly Giant comes to this year’s flower show in the form of Tatton Park’s fabulous show garden.
Visitors will also be able to take part in Roald Dahl activities with the RHS and Tatton team – fancy making your own dream jar? Then look out for the Giant BFG sculpture.
There are 20 schools taking part in this competition – this year all the creations have been inspired by a musical.
This show feature follows the antics of fictional plant hunter Ladybird Su as she searches for new and interesting plants for her garden.
Don’t miss out on special entertainment on Family day (Saturday) including the amazing Bubbleman, beautiful roaming butterfly people and Ian Douglas the magical storyteller.
Also, look out for Twigtwisters’ fabulous willow creations, which form an Alice in Willow wonderland. Then if you fancy taking a break, join in with some seed sowing and other gardening activities with the RHS.

Tamara Bridge: The Sunset Garden
The relationship between formal and informal was the inspiration behind The Sunset Garden, which also won a Gold medal. Tamara’s idea was to show how plants have the ability to provoke feelings. Lavender brushed past your legs, and scent filled the air. Yellow and blue hues of the planting were reminiscent of the sky and yet enclosed you in blissful surroundings.
Based in Norfolk, Tamara has worked on projects since 2011, having finished a year’s practical training at the Sandringham Estate. She worked under the guidance of the head gardener, covering a range of garden maintenance and development.
Thank you for mentioning my show feature ‘Ladybird, Ladybird, Flyaway Home’ in your blog. I’ve had a fantastic time setting it up with my wonderful team of family, friends, and new commercial partners. It is simply fantastic to get some positive support from the likes of yourself. Best wishes Su
