National Allotment Week takes place this week from 9th-15th August.

Allotments have become extremely popular of the last few years with an increase due to lockdown and the interest in growing your own vegetables.

There theme in 2021 is Plotting for the Future; they will be celebrating the contribution that allotments make to a sustainable future.

    The NAS Virtual Allotment Show

They say that this is a call-out to all NAS members to celebrate their skills and achievements and enter the NAW Virtual Show. They will feature the winners during the campaign week on FB, YouTube and on this website.

There are some great prizes to win with this show £25 – £100

The National Allotment Society (NAS) is the leading national organisation upholding the interests and rights of the allotment community across the UK. They work with government at national and local levels, other organisations and landlords to provide, promote and preserve allotments for all. They offer support, guidance and advice to our members and those with an interest in allotment gardening.

In 2011, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales kindly agreed to become the Patron of the Society. The Prince is an avid gardener himself and advocate of green issues, he is also keen to promote and protect the UK’s enduring traditions.

Through there membership they serve over 125,000 allotmenteers, assisting them to acquire, maintain, manage and enjoy allotments across the country.

The National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners (NSALG) is the national representative body for the allotment movement in the U.K. They are governed by volunteers from our regional bodies in England and Wales (the Regional representatives) and there membership is made up of allotments associations, societies and federations, schools, councils, landlords and individuals; although the majority of our members join through their allotment association.

Head over to The National Society of Allotments for more details on allotment information, growing advice, news, events and campaigns, and members area.
