Even though cupcakes are very popular today, the nation’s baker’s claim the traditional scone has made a revival with the quintessentially English Afternoon Tea en vogue.
Afternoon tea is apparently associated with the West Country, but scones are actually themselves Celtic, their origins Welsh or Scottish, and their predecessor was the ‘griddle’ scone.
Personally my favourite is a warm scone, raspberry jam and clotted cream. Mmm….
I love afternoon tea….one of my all time favourites….however, I also love cup cakes:)x
My choice would have to be the scone even though I do like the cupcakes. They do serve cupcakes with afternoon tea’s now as they have become so popular 🙂
scone anyday 🙂
Me to pagan 🙂
Just had a couple of cream buns today – some were squashed!
Not the same as a scone though eh Hutt? Can’t beat a warm scone and butter, it’s making my mouth water just writing this 🙂
Can’t beat hot scones and a cup of tea. Plain ones with strawberry jam and whipped cream.
It’s made me want to bake …..I’ll make you some scones 🙂
Airfreight them to me down here!
Forgot to say hutt, I had them ready to post to you but went and ate them instead, sorry I was sooooo hungry :)):)):)
Meanie! I was looking forward to them! LOL
I have recently become a fan of this particular food.
Is it the cupcake you are a fan of Bushka, or the scone, or both for tea? My favourite is definitely a warm scone with butter and clotted cream:)
The cupcake I’ve known for years. And I have enjoyed tea as well. But I only recently discoved the scone, and like it very much.
Oh yes Shimon, the typically British scone takes some beating 🙂
Love the scone if it is fresh and warm and smothered in butter and pineapple jam would be my favourite, strawberry if there is no pineapple though 😀
Oh, me to absolutely delicious 🙂
Scone for me over the cupcake any day of the week.
Me to valley boy 🙂
