The Danish homes are usually stylish with a minimalistic look but with some personal touches, and now decluttering has become popular everywhere.

The rooms won’t look sterile but homely with cushions but not tens of cushions – ‘ think less is more’.

Have a place for everything and remove the clutter. When your home has less clutter it looks cleaner and therefore doesn’t need cleaning as often.

They say the that a home that is free from clutter will be less stressful for you and you will feel more included to invite friends around to your home.

A couple of years ago we moved from the Midlands down South and downsized in house size quite drastically so we had no option but to declutter. At first it seemed like we would never get through it but slowly but surely we did, and the feeling was lovely. I know try very hard to make sure something goes out of the house if something new comes into it. It keeps it clutter free.

The recent new program on Channel 5 with Nick Knowles ‘Big House Clearout‘ deals with clutter as well. Fallen out of love with your house? Is clutter and life taking it over? In this new format, Nick Knowles offers families across Britain a life-changing deal. Ditch at least half of your clutter and he and his talented team will deliver their half of the bargain – a stunning top-to-toe home makeover. See your home as empty as the day you bought it—and then fall in love with it all over again, with those beautifully redesigned rooms, that space, the light and the ingenious storage solutions. Nick Knowles rescues six families across Britain who are being crushed by their clutter. Homes that look fine on the outside, but are swamped on the inside—drab, unloved and undervalued. We strip our families’ homes bare and reconstruct their entire house room by room. We help them part with precious memories, ditch a lifetime of junk, repurpose old items and make a bit of cash from unloved possessions.

Books are popping up regularly on the subject with the emphasis on how it can help with your inner and outer harmony – Secrets of Space Clearing: Achieve Inner and Outer Harmony through Energy Work, Decluttering, and Feng Shui by Denise Linn who writes –

“Space clearing is the art of cleansing and harmonizing the energy within an environment. This practice not only has the power to make your home feel good, but also help those within to feel more positive and energetic, to bring balance to relationships and to remove blocks for increased abundance, creativity and wellbeing.

In this comprehensive guide, internationally bestselling author and originator of the term ‘space clearing’, Denise Linn, distils more than 45 years of experience as a leading authority in energy healing to guide you through ancient rituals and modern techniques for regaining control of the energy in any environment, including your home and body.

Denise channels the wisdom of her Native American lineage to teach you how to to transform any space using feng shui, clutter clearing, prayer, crystals, essential oils, mystic mudras, holy water, pendulums and more.”

So, with the summer nights getting shorter and the temperature slightly dipping maybe this is the ideal time to declutter your home ready for the autumn days and nights.
