The Banqueting House, Whitehall, London, SW1A 2ER is having a ‘POP UP AT THE PALACE’ – 18th JULY TO 28th AUGUST
The dramatic Banqueting House, a Historic Royal Palace originally built for King Charles I in 1622, plays host to a new ‘pop up’ restaurant this summer, serving a traditional Afternoon Tea under the magnificent Rubens ceiling in the Main Hall. Afternoon Tea in the Main Hall

The Pop Up Afternoon Tea will be served every day from 18th July until 28th August, offering a unique experience for both Londoners and visitors to the capital looking to enjoy a truly English tradition.

Dine in style with Afternoon Tea under the only surviving in-situ ceiling painting of Peter Paul Rubens, the crowning glory of Inigo Jones’s building. The Banqueting House is probably most famous for the execution of King Charles I in 1649, who stepped directly on to the scaffold from an upstairs window, specially removed for the occasion.

Afternoon Tea costs £30.50 per person including the Palace entrance fee.

A bit of history there. Talking of history, have you seen the King of Tonga on TV with his top hat and monocle?

He is THE King of Tonga! He is the pompous dickhead of a ruler, who has top-hat and monocle, of this polynesian island state.
