Brew Monday – Samaritans Brew Monday – 16th January 2023 – The third Monday in January is sometimes referred to as ‘the most difficult day of the year’ but this is a myth.

So we say it’s time to stop this myth about Monday being ‘blue’ and instead start a conversation over a brew! Reach out and connect with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones.

We can always make time for a cuppa and a catch-up. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or Saturday night, or if you’re drinking green tea, black coffee or orange juice. If you’re sharing a cuppa and listening, you’re doing it right.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week – 23rd – 27th January 2023 – For a whole week, school children from across the county of Lincolnshire are given the opportunity to get really hands-on with lots of fun farm-to-fork interactive activities focused on the most important meal of the day – breakfast!

The initiative promotes the importance of eating breakfast like a champion and reintroducing breakfast into our current hectic lifestyles. Did you know that an alarming 47% of people skip eating breakfast regularly due to their demanding routines? Cultivating this habit of consuming breakfast regularly improves our diet, boosts us for the day, and is essential for overall well-being.

Veganuary – 1st – 31st January 2023 – Join the New Years Revolution – Veganuary inspired and supported over 620,000 people to try vegan during our 2022 campaign – with participants from over 220 countries and territories. We have worked with businesses to drive up vegan food provision in shops and restaurants, and have made veganism more visible and accessible through our work with national and international media.

Burns Night – 25th January 2023 – Burns Night on January 25th and it is ‘annually celebrated in Scotland on or around January 25. It commemorates the life and work of the bard (poet) Robert Burns, who was born on January 25, 1759. The day also celebrates Burns’ contribution to Scottish culture. Burns’ best known work is “Auld Lang Syne”.

National Cheese Lovers Day – January 20th – On January 20, get ready to ‘havarti’ a ‘gouda’ time because it’s National Cheese Lover’s Day! Have you ever wondered how the first human discovered cheese? We’ve wondered that too, and we’ll probably never find out. All we know is that it was love at first bite; when the first human tasted the salty, tangy, delicious goodness of cheese, they were hooked. And we can definitively say that human history was forever changed. Cheese might have had mysterious beginnings over 7,000 years ago, but it’s insanely popular today. In the U.S, one-third of all milk produced in this country goes into cheese production. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry!

National Pizza Week –8th-14th January 2023, begins the second Sunday of January and lasts seven days. National Pizza Week is a week-long celebration that begins on the second Sunday in January every year. Normally, we wouldn’t take up valuable time with the nitty-gritty of an event. But even we understand that this week is too important, and every second should be spent thinking about or eating pizza. Or reading up on different recipes to make a pizza, or deciding what toppings should be added. So, go out and celebrate this great week in style as we unfold more greatness of this pizza week.

National Soup Month – January is National Soup Month. Perfect isn’t it because nothing drives away those chilly winter blues like a hot bowl of your favourite soup. And it’s nutritious too! So, go ahead and indulge and get souped up on soup this month.

National Shortbread Day – 6th January 2023 – We celebrate National Shortbread Day on January 6 to appreciate the delectable shortbread in all its glory. This high-fat, melt-in-your-mouth buttery treat is Scotland’s best gift to the world. Baked without a leavening component such as baking soda or powder, the dense and rustic texture of this incredible dessert stands out. As a remnant of the holiday spirit, bake this Scottish delight in your home on National Shortbread Day to start the new year on a sweet note.

Ginuary – 1st -31st January 2023 – Ginuary is a celebration of gin during the month of January. Ginuary is the opposite of Dry January. Rather than a campaign for people to stop drinking, Ginuary provides reasons to drink gin. Hobart Festival 14/15th January.

National Slow Cooking Month – January 2023 – Chances are there is a slow cooker in your house. Many might wonder, “what is so great about a slow cooker?” Besides easier cleanup and more free time on your hands, the slow cooker played a major part in changing the family dynamic in the late twentieth century by letting women go back to work, and still have a homemade meal ready. Let us dig into why January is known as National Slow Cooking Month. An inventor named Irving Nachumsohn received the patent for the device that became the Crock-Pot on Jan. 23, 1940. Nachumsohn, who went by the surname Naxon, invented the slow cooker to cook cholent, a traditional stew eaten by Jews in eastern Europe on the Sabbath.
