BAKE FREE BIRTHDAY CAKES FOR KIDS…

Free Cakes for Kids

‘Free Cakes for Kids’ was launched so a group of passionate amateur bakers could provide birthday cakes for children who went without.

Henriette Lundgren was inspired to set it up after hearing of a similar scheme in the US and four years ago set up the first ‘Free Cakes for Kids’ group in Oxford.

There are now more than 40 schemes all over the UK.

The requests for birthday cakes comes via schools or parents who get in touch with their local ‘Free Cakes for Kids’ group online.

The requests are then passed on to a group nearby who makes and delivers the cake .

Each regional group functions completely on its own but there is a wider mentoring scheme so that newer groups and volunteers can attend meetings to learn more.

If you are interested in getting involved or want to know more about it then go to the ‘Free Cakes for Kids’ website, http://www.freecakesforkids.org.uk

I am a mum and wife to a lovely caring family. I’ve suffered with chronic back pain for over 30 years and started writing my first blog in 2007 which covered back and chronic pain. Since then I have written many more blogs for myself and customers. I find it takes me away from my pain to another place. I love it so much I think it should be part of a recovery process after illness or surgery. I hope you enjoy reading through my blogs.
