EXPLORING THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COFFEE…

Just like the drink, the world of coffee is rich and it is also very vibrant. With that in mind, there are a few things that you need to know about the beans that are out there.  If you can take the time to understand the beans you are buying and the benefits, or taste profile of them then this will help you to get the result you want and it will also mean that you don’t end up getting bored of what it is you’re drinking.

    Flavors from Different Coffee Regions

With a vast range of countries and continents producing coffee, it has never been easier to discover a huge variety of flavor profiles. You can choose everything from smokey to caramel and even citrus if you want. If you want to delve into deeper or more exotic notes then you can do so with ease too. You just need to make sure that you choose a grinder that can get the consistency you want from your beans. If you don’t then you won’t be able to grind them fresh on the day and this can have a monumental impact on the results you’re able to get. If you want to make the most out of the natural flavor and oil of the beans then this is easy to do too, and as stated you just need to make sure that you have the right grinder for the job.

    Coffee from Plant to Roast

The story starts with the evergreen coffee tree known as Coffea, which grows in numerous climates. Coffee beans are the seeds from the cherries. When these are picked, the beans are then put inside a drum and then roasted until they turn brown. This stage is very important and it is an art too. A lot of work goes into making sure that the result is one that brings out the right aroma and it also gives you the chance to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. You can even get decaff coffee if you want the taste without the buzz.

    Light or Dark

One thing you need to take note of is that the roast can vary from light to dark. Roasting essentially transforms the green and tasteless bean into the brown one you know about. Most roasts fall into several categories and a lot of the time you just need to come to the conclusion about which one is your favorite. If you have a light roast then this will give you a more fragrant coffee and it will also mean that you will have a far more flavourful cup of java at the end of the day. Of course, a lot of roasts fall into the dark category. This is a heavy flavor that is often strong and bitter. The one you go for will largely depend on what taste profile you are looking for, but ultimately, it’s very easy for you to get the taste you want when you give some thought to the options that are out there.

I LOVE the smell of coffee but I’ve always hated the taste. My mum enjoys a cup or two most days and she goes for medium blends, so not too weak nor too bitter/strong. From my mum’s point of view, an instant coffee at home is fine for casual quick drinking, but you really do get a more flavoursome, authentic coffee if you go for beans, use a grinder and maybe a stove-top maker like a Bialetti. Mmm I can almost smell the cawwwfeee now!
