One of the YOU and Clarins ‘Britain’s Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year award runner up Laura Young, set up a children’s charity The Teapot Trust, in memory of her daughter Verity, who died of cancer at just eight years of age, to help youngsters in hospital.

When her daughter was ill in bed, with no hair and no energy, she said she realised that it can be a bit shocking for her young friends so she decided to hold a doll’s tea party or teddy bears picnic or princess tea party. She could see how it made it easier for them to relax and have fun and that’s where the idea of the Teapot Trust came from.

Art as a form of therapy is crucial to many children with chronic diseases, but unfortunately it is not always available. Their aim is to provide professional art therapy for chronically ill children in ‘Sick Kids’ i.e. Royal Hospital for Sick Children Edinburgh and Yorkhill Hospital, Glasgow. In particular the Teapot Trust will offer support for children who suffer from Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosis SLE) and related conditions.

Head to the trust website http://www.teapot-trust.org/ to see the beautiful art gallery submitted by children in the hospital or to make a donation.
